Fruit & Veg & Happy Birthday Dad!

Today is my Dad's Birthday, and as it's me that's hosting the challenge over at an Oldie But a Goodie this time, I thought I'd pick a theme that would help me create his card.  So todays challenge is

Fruit & Veg
(Please also use something older than 6 months on your card and tell us what it is)

Now my Dad is a super keen gardener and veggies are his speciality (although he's also very good at growing roses and keeping his grass in tip-top condition,) so here are a few inspirational pics of his garden to help you with your creations.

For my card, I chose a JustInklined garden themed digi, called Gardener's Harvest - Available Here which I thought would be perfect for my Dad. I've had it for over 6 months, kept specially for this card! As for my card, well it's nice and simple with kraft and a charm, burlap and neutral papers.  All my colouring is done using Promarkers.

Challenges;
Sweet Stampin - Favourite Stamp - Not sure if I have a favourite actually, but this was defo my favourite for my Dad's card!
Stempelsonne - Summer
Wags n Whiskers - Anything Goes
4 Crafty Chicks - The Great Outdoors ... in the garden!
Chrisma Cardz - Anything Goes
Sketcn n Stash - Sketch 72 - New charm but everything else is old

Card Mania - How charming - use a charm
Pink Elephant - (TPE260) - Summertime - gardening
Just Inspirational - 3 or more layers

Finally, I've decided it was time to reduce my design team commitments and stand down from the OBAG team.  It's almost 3 years since I started with the team and it was my first DT position.  Thanks Fran for having me on the team, I've had loads of fun and met some fantastic bloggers through my time here.

And as a little thank you, I have a little stamp prize for this weeks winner - it's the garden themed Penny Black slapstick shown below;

School Is Out

I'm way ahead of myself here, but I know last Summer I found it a real bonus to have worked ahead over the holiday period, so there wasn't as much pressure on to get DT work out.

So today's card is for the current challenge at an Oldie But A Goodie.  Anne-Marie  has chosen...

School's Out
(Remember to use an item older than 6months on your project and to tell us what it it.)

as our theme.

In my case the oldie was the image - as infact was the colouring - think it was one I prepared last year but never turned into a card.

The paper is a 12x12 sheet - MME Lime Twist and my colouring by Promarker.

Challenges;
613 Avenue Create - anything goes
Catch the Bug - anything goes
Cutie Pies - Use a cute digi
Brown Sugar - anything goes
Fairy tale - from a child
Digi Galore - Anything Goes

It's a good job I did have this prepared in advance as we ended up in Aberdeen last night staying over for a little break. Watched a DVD, Philomena, with Judi Dench and Steve Coogan, best film I've seen in ages so I recommend it to you all. A great story, funny, sad, moving and true. Jx

As the theme.

In my case, both the LOTV stamp and the Forever Friends papers are 6m+.

Not much news for you today other that my eldest son Alan is now home from Uni for the summer - assuming he can find a job.  Failing that he may have to move back to Aberdeen and look there. In the mean time, it's nice to have him around and to catch up on things.

Filigree

I can't quite believe it, after 13 years of schooling, Colin sits his final SQA exam today and that will then be him left school once his leavers form is signed.  So no more homework, no more school bus to catch, no more parents nights and no more letters home from school - the end of a chapter in all our lives.  But just wait till next week as that's when Colin's new adventure begins...

Back to today first and the latest challenge at An Oldie But a Goodie ...which is...

Filigree
(Remember also to use an item older than 6 months on your project and to tell us what it is)

One that kinda had me stumped till I thought of my little La-La Land corner filigree die! You can however use twirly papers/dies what ever really as long as we get the general idea!

My oldies this time are the ribbon and my gorgeous Hannah Lynn digi.The papers are new Bo Bunny Avenues Collection , the filigree die is by La La Land and my colouring as always by Promarker.

Happy Anniversary

Morning all you Oldies and Goodies (won't say who falls into which category - I'll let you figure that one out yourselves), but what I will say is that there were a lot of goodies in my Hat challenge last time around and I must thank you all for your super entries.

Today it's the turn of Fran to set the latest challenge over at an Oldie But a Goodie - and she has chosen the theme of,
Anniversary
(Remember also to use an item of over 6 months on your project and to tell us what it is.)

In my case it was the cat stamp, made by Stampelkallan - which funnily enough I won over here at an OBAG before I was on the DT.  It's also a great theme for me this week as my 26th Wedding Anniversary is tomorrow.

My card also uses more lovely Bo Bunny papers - this time The Avenues Collection and is finished off with die cut hearts.

It's also a handy card for me to have as it's our 26th Wedding Anniversary tomorrow - but I can't decide whether to send this cat card or my tic-tac-toe card from last week...which do I pick?

Challenges;
As You Like It - Feather or Fur - Fur obviously - Merlot cat would look daft covered in feathers!
Chocolate Coffee & Cards - Circles & Squares
Cute Card Thurs - Paw Pals
PB@ Allsorts - Anything Goes
Crafting for All Seasons - Lots of Layers
SSW2 - sketch

Finally, I just thought I'd let you know that I've added a link to my Just Giving Page for the Race For Life, supporting the charity Cancer Research UK.  I have to admit, neither training nor fundraising have gone particularly well this year.  I've only raised £20 from an unknown sponsor and I still can't run the distance - so unfit!  Further to that, the race has been brought forward by a week as it clashed with the Commonwealth torch relay, so now things are serious.

The six week training plan starts today...and MUST be followed!  Progress reports will now appear weekly and once Colin finishes his exams I'll get him to help me personalise my Just Giving Page - can't do that either!!! Jx

Papers this time are a mixture of Bo Bunny Primrose Collection and Andrea Jayne's Hot Diggity dog (also 6m+) Finally colouring by Promarker.  Sorry if you are getting bored of hatters, think I have about 4-5 of these images so I might as well air them all in the coming weeks!

First of April already! Can you believe it?  What a mild winter we've had up north, so much so, the grass has already been cut twice this year and we haven't even reached the school holidays!

Today is the start of a new challenge over at An Oldie But A Goodie and the lovely Sarah has chosen

April Showers Bring May Flowers
(Remember also to use something older than 6 months on your project and tell us what it is.)

as the theme and for me that can only mean one stamp, my lovely old Penny Black called Tender Showers. It's a beauty and always makes an appearance at Spring and is my first ever PB stamp - I have a few more now!

This year the image is combined with brand spanking new Bo Bunny papers called Primrose Collection (Love these papers!) and my La La Land Filigree die made an appearance too!

Challenges;
Come and Get It - In the garden

Buttons

Morning everyone and welcome to a new challenge over at An Oldie But A Goodie.  This time, Dips has chosen the theme of,

Buttons
(Please remember to use something older than 6 months on your project and to tell us what it is.)

For my card, I had another go at vintage style, so that I could encorporate an old photograph onto my card. The photo is of my neighbour who celebrated her birthday this week - Happy Birthday Stella!  I have to admit I told her a pack of lies as to why I needed an old photo, so I could get one for her card.  We discussed it on her birthday and she said the day I ran off with the photo she truely believed it was for a vintage challenge.  It was only days later that the penny dropped and she realised I was up to something.

Papers this time are a mix of Basic Grey and MME, my oldie is the button and lace and the pearls are Hobbyhouse, from the lovely Pami.  My oldie is the photo and the lace and the flower is made following a super tutorial posted by Craftyloops.

Challenges;
Hobby House - Anything goes - the pearl brads are HH
Flat Friends - More than 1 fold.
Sweet Stamps - Fun folds
Allsorts - Use brads - Hobby House pearl ones
Little Claires - Monotone
Open Minded Crafting Fun - Monochrome

The prize this time around is a bag of buttons from Andrea.

Valentine

So, the 4th of Feb and still no significant snow! I know loads of people have had dreadful weather this year, but I have to admit, this year we have been lucky so far.

Today is a new challenge day at an Oldie But a Goodie and this time the theme is

Valentine
( Please remember to use something older than 6 months on your project and to tell us what it is.)

I went with a CAS card again this time, and the Bugaboo image I used is older than 6 months.  Colouring by Promarker and glossy accents on the hearts.

The sentiments inside and out are computer generated and are the lysics from a great Beatles song.

The prize this time is this lovely Valentine set;

Challenges;
Sweet Stampin - Love/Valentine
A Gem of A Challenge - All You need is love
Addicted to CAS - Love
Crafty Catz - Anything goes
Totally Papercrafts - Clean & Simple
Catch The Bug - Anything goes

Cheers

It's time for a new challenge over at an Oldie But a Goodie, and this week it's my turn to set the theme, so, I've chosen...

Recycle
(Remember also to use an item older than 6 months on your project and to tell us what it is.)

This was my cheeky little recycling idea for a male card the other day!  The idea came to me after a lovely glossy magazine came through the post advertising Tesco's wine range.  The magazine was such good quality it seemed a shame to throw it straight in the bin, so instead, I set about it with scissors!

 The Front Cover

 The Back Cover

 The Bottles Pages

The Final Card!

Quite a quick and simple card really once I had the initial idea.  It's finished off with a flower of un-known origin, but it was perfect for the job along with a ribbon & sentiment.  (The flower is also very old!)

Challenges;
A Gem of a Challenge - One for the boys - my hubby to be precise!
Daring Cardmakers - What's your tipple - guess it's red wine!
Stampin For The Weekend - Happy Birthday
Charisma Cardz - It's a boy thing
Crafty Creations - Something To Drink
Make It Monday - Anything Goes

For more inspiration and details of the prize this time around hop over to the main OBAG Blog. Jx

And the prize for our lucky winner this time is from Robyn's Fetish.

My card uses a great new Bugaboo image called Season's Greeting Feet and again is of a CAS design so that I don't get hit with large postal charges!

As you can see I've made a few of these, keeping the image the same but altering the ribbon.  (The ribbons are all over 6 months old) As for the image, well its coloured by Promarker, then Santa's boots are given a glossy accent finish and a flock trim and the snowman is glittered all over.

Ribbon & Lace

Morning everyone, how are we all today?  Must admit, I'm a bit tired as I was up early yesterday to take Alan to the dentist for an emergency appointment as he'd chipped a tooth.  From there, we then went a quick visit to my parents, very enjoyable even if it was still before 9am.  Next it was a Tesco shop before he headed back to Aberdeen for Uni classes.  I then stayed and cleaned the flat before heading home for tea.

Hopefully today will be a bit less busy!

I do however wish to thank everyone who entered my CAS Christmas challenge last time at an OBAG. What fantastic cards appeared in our gallery and so picking the winner and Top 3 was not an easy job. Check on the main blog page for the results.

This time over at an Oldie But A Goodie the challenge is

Ribbon & Lace
(Remember also to use an item which is older that 6 months and to tell us what it is.)

For my card I used everything old!  The image from Bugaboo was a favourite of mine last year, the papers LOTV, also available last Xmas and the ribbon and lace are older still!

And the prize for our luck winner are some lovely goodies from Natali over at Ivanovachest.

So I went for Christmas again, but it's up to you what you do as long as you have ribbon & lace on your card.

Challenges:
Come And Get It - Use a Digi
Crafting When We Can - Winter - And a visit from Rudolph!

CAS Christmas

So how are we all today?  Hopefully well and ready for another fun challenge, cause today see's a new challenge over at an Oldie But A Goodie, and the theme was set by me!

If you are anything like me, Christmas cards just haven't happened this year, so hopefully to speed things along and boost card stocks the theme of

CAS Christmas Cards
(Please remember to use something older than 6months on your card and to tell us what it is.)

will help!  The sponsor this time around is the fabulous Bugaboo - and their images work wonderfully well in bold colours on CAS cards, so I strongly urge you to give them a try.

For my card, I went with a relatively new release called Merry Christmas Tree, available here.

I simply coloured it with Promarkers, glazed my baubles, (glaze being my oldie) then mounted the image on green card and doodled the edges - that simple!

Now as time is now critical for me on the Christmas card stakes, this is my kinda card! Let's see what you lot can come up with now. For more inspiration, hop back to the main blog to see what the rest of the DT made.

Challenges;
Crafty Calendar - All Things Christmas
Sweet Stampin - Christmas is Comin

Use A Charm

As it is now the end of October, time is fast running out for Christmas cards so from now on, where ever possible I am only to make Christmas cards, right?

The last few years I have made Christmas cards all year long so by this stage in the year I was sitting pretty with my stash all made.  This January however I felt Christmas was never ending so decided to hault production till middle of the year.  Sadly however, middle of the year came and went and Christmas cards still didn't appear.  So that's it, next year its year round production again & for now, it's ONLY CHRISTMAS!

Today sees a new challenge over at An Oldie But a Goodie - set by Natalie and sponsored by Paper Nest Dolls.

The theme is

Use A Charm
(Remember also to use an item older that 6 months on your project and to tell us what it is.)

So here is my CHRISTMAS card!

Made using a super Carolling Snowmen image from Paper Nest Dolls - thanks for that PND!  Papers used are Crafters Companion and my oldies, then the card is finished with the pom-pom trim and charm.

The prize this time from Paper Nest Dolls is a $25 gift voucher to be used in their store - a very generous prize indeed for our lucky winner.

Hope you can join us this time & for more lovely inspiration head back to the main blog to see what the rest of the DT made.

Challenges;

CHCC - Music

Well it's the school holidays where we stay, so Colin is at home with me for the next two weeks.  We haven't really got much planned, just days here and there and catching up on odd jobs.

Today however is new challenge day over at An Oldie But A Goodie and Helen has chosen

So here is my spooky card...

Sponsoring us for the first time this time are Sk Digi who very kindly gave us DT gals a stamp of our choice and who are offering our winner some free digi's.  Check out their store, they have loads of fun stamps.

Back to my card, and it uses an old crepe bandage, an old ribbon - used it last year too! and a great Sk Digi image called Little Mummy, available here.

A really simple card to make, with just a touch of shading on the bandages and some glossy accents on the eyes.
