The Return of Magna Girl

It's ages since I've used a magna girl on a card, so when Karen at Funky Kits popped up this freebie last week I grabbed her quick!

She was perfect for the first challenge of the year over at an Oldie But A Goodie, where Debs has asked us to use

So a little bit more about my card, well, the papers are Memorandum by Lily Bee Design, the lace pins and pearls were all bought from The Pretty Little Ribbon Shop before Christmas (My present to me!) & the sentiment is LOTV.  Finally all edges were inked with TH pumice distress ink.

Goth Girl - What's A Goth?

I found a new challenge this week called Poisoned Peas, and their challenge theme this time around is Goth/Emo. Now I'm not entirely sure what one of them is, but when I asked the brains of the family he said lots of black & dah... use your Goth Girl stamp by Sugar Nellie, (ain't he clever!)

... so that's what I did! With basic grey paper, PB sentiment and a ribbon.

My other two bits of news today are that I visited the new craft shop in Oldmeldrum called The Bee's Knees. That was fun, lots of lovely goodies a great coffee shop and an interesting demo off Erica Gunter of Snappy Crafts. I will be back there soon, (& often!)

Also, Tommy-Cat is ok. He was at the vet on Thurs after not being able to walk properly. On Fri he had an X-Ray and they decided he had tendon damage in his right ankle area. He was in a foul mood last night when we got him back home, he's an outside cat and despite clearly being under the influence of anesthetic gas he was determined to get outside. This he did under supervision in the latter part of the evening, but when the wailing started up again at 5am I let him out & he was gone! After a very worrying day, and many searches, he pitched up in the early evening, still limping, but much happier. He is now settled on the sofa after giving himself a bath.

This is an older Sugar Nellie stamp, but one of my favourites. She's coloured with Promarkers then combined with kraft Funday papers.

Today has been a crafty day...can you tell? It's rained pretty much all day, so I thought I'd spend the day catching up on challenges. This is my 3rd card for the Sugar Bowl Challenge, quite different from the other two and made for a friend who wanted a green football card for a Celtic supporter. Jx

AFC Birthday

This card is for an Aberdeen football club fan - can you guess? The image is a Sugar Nellie coloured with Promarkers, the happy birthday panel embossed on my bug & the AFC rosette computer generated. Jx

Father's Day - Golf

It's another lovely day here, the sun is out & the sky is blue - it's also a school long weekend so card making is at a minimum so we can do other things.

This golf card is made using a Sugar Nellie stamp I bought last year, combined with a golf ball stamp bought from the US (- no brand or name). I used Paper Cellar - Men 2 paper and as always the image is coloured with Promarkers.

Goth Girl

This is another great Sugar Nellie stamp called Goth Girl - great to colour...till you come to the hair! Anyway my trusty promarkers were to hand, & this was my best attempt at hair, (honestly I did a lot worse on some!)

Pretty As A Princess

I love this Sugar Nellie stamp, & I love to colour her with my Promarkers - this time she's in Apricot & Saffron.

This simple card is backed onto two Cuttlebug embossed panels & the card is finished off with a Penny Black sentiment. I'm entering it into the following challenges;

Golfer

I loved the Less in More challenge so much last week that I'm back to try my hand at it again this and the challenge this time is to do a masculine card. I can also make this my 2nd entry into this weeks I Love Promarkers Challenge which is to make a male card.

This time I've added colour & used my Magna Golfer by Sugar Nellie for the job. The sentiment is Penny Black & sorry it's mounted - haven't learned how to position computer generated text directly onto card - but I'll see if I can find a tutorial to guide me on the way.

Magna Fairy

Following the Papertake Challenge layout, I've made this card using Basic Grey papers & a Sugar Nellie Magna fairy.

I've also used stickles, a charm & some embroidery thread, along with a ticket punch & an MS border punch.

A card for an Aberdeen supporter. Made using my Sugar Nellie stamp and an Inca football image. Mounted on a Happy Birthday embossed panel & finished with silver card candy.

Magna Girl's Back

I stamped & coloured this image ages ago, which turned out nice & handy cause I've a girls card to do for early Dec. I'm quite into my embossing these days again, & love my MS border punch, so I've combined both for the backing. Finally there's a wild orchid rose bud in the top corner.



I'm entering my card into this weeks Papertake Challenge which is Cut it Out & also Crafty Cardmakers Challenge which is White & Splash.

Bingo!

Allsorts this week had a great challenge where you had to pick a bingo line to instruct you on the key elements in your card. My line was; Ribbon, Tag & Punch, (corner punch on embossed heart strips).

As well as the Allsorts Challenge, this card will be entered into the Friday Sketchers Challenge as it follows their layout.

Christmas Again

Rock Idol

I bought this stamp at the beginning of the summer on a trip to Elgin & the Papercraft Shop - home to Funky Kits/Sugar Nellie. Eventually I've got round to using it.

I struggled last week with the Sugar Bowl challenge, I made my card using a print out of the layout, only to find I'd missed out the circle mount as it didn't show on the printout. I then realised that all my circle nesties were too small for the size of stamps I have... PROBLEM! Then last night in a flash of inspiration, I thought why not use a CD - perfect size & ties in really well with the musical theme of this card for the Sugar Bowl Challange & also the music/dance theme set on the Crafty Creations Challenge. Jx

Mistletoe

Christmas seems to be creeping up upon us, so I have decided to do Christmas cards from now on in unless it's for an order - well that's the plan!

So I've used my Sugar Nellie stamp along with some of last years Christmas papers, (don't know who's) to make this card for the Friday Sketchers Challenge & the Crafty Catz Challenge, which was to use green & chocolate.

Minus Mistletoe!

I really love this Sugar Nellie stamp, & I know it's a Christmas one cause it's called Mistletoe... however with a bit of masking, you can turn it into a year round stamp, perfect for an anniversary card.

This was to be my entry in this weeks Sugar Bowl Challenge - only I just spotted a circle behind the image - why did that not show up in my print off of the layout!!! Oh well at least I've made one of the cards I had to do for an order! Jx
